Gluten Free Onion Bhaji

Ingredients
- 4 red onions
- 400ml sunflower oil to fry
Batter:
- 150g Eurostar Premium Gluten Free Plain Flour
- 2 tsp Turmeric
- 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 2 tsp Cumin Powder
- 1 tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Ginger Powder
Instructions
- Peel and slice the onions into half moons
- Mix batter ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Whisk in 180 ml of water and mix until a thick, gloopy, smooth batter
- Add red onion and mix well
- Scoop a 2 inch ball of bhaji batter out of the mixing bowl and shape into a rough flat patty with your hands. Place the patty onto your tray or board. The patty should be about 4 – 5 cm in width
- Add bhajis to VERY HOT oil in a large heavy pan over a medium-high heat just covering the bhaljis
- Fry for 3 minutes or until the underside side begins to crisp and take on a lovely golden brown colour. Flip the bhajis and cook the opposite side for 3 minutes more until evenly crisp and golden brown
- Remove from the pan onto kitchen paper to drain and salt to taste
